Adoption Rant
We as people will never, ever always agree with the law. However, the law is there to protect the people, not grant certain groups the ability to legally discriminate. There are "faith-based" organizations that complain that gay rights legislation would force them to aid gay couples to adopt. And they are right, most legislation would do just that. Why? Because these organizations receive state funding, and under state regulations, you can not use your chosen religious beliefs to deny others services and rights.
If those organizations would prefer not to work with "the gays," then I'm sure the nation would gladly accept their funding back to help pay off the debt Bush has accrued financing religious fundamentalism here in the States and abroad.
Yes, rights laws would mean that legalized discrimination would be a thing of the past. It would mean that hundreds, if not thousands, of children would have a safe, warm and loving place to sleep every night and adults to actually love them and care for them instead of paid workers that just want their shift to be over. It would mean that the world would be just a bit of a better place, and more human beings would be offered chances they would not have otherwise.
As much as marriage rights mean to me, I have to say that I believe adoption rights are at least on par with them. There are simply too many children without healthy, happy homes. I would like for every one of the supposed Christian adoption agencies to turn to the children they are suppose to help, look them in the eye and tell that child they will go yet another night without the safety of a home and without the love of a family because the Christians have decided that a particular couple is unworthy just because they are gay.
The difference between marriage and adoption rights comes down to the difference between my happiness and a child's happiness. I can suffer and I'll be OK, but I'll be damned if I watch another child suffer because of someone else's bigotry.

Coming Out Against Sarah Palin
Canada's Crazy Christian Candidate

Apparently, this David Popuescu fella from our Northerly neighbor has decided that it would be cute to tell a bunch of high school students that if he were elected to an office (any office, I presume), that he would kill gay people. Not persecute, torture, tickle, or "reform." Kill…. Yep.
Why would someone say these things? Because, he says, the Bible is clear as day on the issue, and he's a strict Biblist. Except when it's not convienient to be a literalist. But in this case, he's absolutely a strict interpreter of the Bible, because, well… gays are gay… and stuff...
Canada has some pretty stringent laws in place againt hate speech, so this duesche has been arrested and an investigation is under way into this vile man's words. Putting aside the "should someone be arrested simply for saying what they feel" debate, what is it about some forms of religion that push people to these extremes?! This guy probably has no intention of stoning his daughters on the court house steps, or waching the feet of any of his supporters, but when it comes to the 'mos, it's time to go all Biblical? While we are worried about radical Islamic terrorists in this country, shouldn't someone start being worried about the threats some of our extremist Christian churches are brewing?

Yep, you heard me. I'm giving away our master plan again. Us queers are going to DESTROY FATHER"S DAY!!!11!1!zzz
This cute ad from the Family Research Council, that apparently doesn't give a fuck about family, nor do they research, put out this adorable little ad:
Any of the following responses is valid when seeing this ad:
- Rolling the eyes
- Gaging on air
- Throwing up in your mouth a little
- Politely informing your local bigot how idiotic they are
- Telling anyone you know that supports the Family Research Council that they are supporting flaming jack-asses
Any other response is simply not acceptable.

Dear Ann Barnett: You're Pathetic
One of the most ridiculous pieces of drama to come out of the California Marriage decision has to be Auditor/Controller/County Clerk for Kern County, CA, Ann Barnett's decision to protest Gay Marriage by simply not performing any marriages in the county... at all. Which is awesome.
If there is any single one way to prove your undieing devotion to the sanctity of marriage, not marrying people has to be it. I mean, if you don't want a small group of people to have equal and legal protections under the law, all you need to do is deny the right to marriage to the 85% of the population that has been enjoying these rights and benefits, and viola! What will happen is the heteros will hate those damned uppity queers for this (because, obviously, it's the gay peoples fault that this is happening), and everything will go back to the Theocratic ways that this country was founded on.
Or not...
No, what will actually happened, Miss Idiotic-McPathetic Barnett, is that everyone will realize how much of a mistake it was to elect you. They will boot you out of office, because regardless of the someone's stance on Gay Marriage, the straight people still want to be married. It also further serves to confirm the absolute idiocy of the Christian Right's position on this issue. So please, by all means, break the newly created State Laws. I hope you do. I can't wait to watch your effigy on the news, you waste of human office space.
And for more evidence that this woman is a waste of ballots, check out this story from a local news station wherein they are almost forced out of a public building and denied access to their elected officials whom are responsible to the public... because they are FRAKIN PUBLIC OFFICIALS!

Straight Boy In A Gay Man's World
Last night, after playing a spot of my new gaming addiction (Age of Conan), I decided to swing over to Hulu and see what gay-oriented programming they had to watch. I had written about Hulu for Homotron awhile ago, and played around with it for awhile during it's beta phase, and while I like the service in general, the offerings were limited.
That said, I wasn't expecting much to pop up when I punched the word "Gay" into the search box. The typical Bravo shows and Kathy Griffith clips came up, even a spot from the millionaire dating club chick explaining gay dating as if she was a 'mo, but something else caught my eye: an episode called "Straight Man in a Gay World," one of the episodes of 30 Days.
The premise is that a conservative Christian boy was transplanted to The Castro and lived with a gay man for 30 Days, and, yep, you guessed it, hilarity ensues! With the joking aside, the episode was pretty good, and although it seems to me that Spurlack (the creator/narrator of the show) is pretty pro-gay biased, he at least attempted to present a unbiased running editorial.
I've got the whole episode below, for those interested and those that have a spare 50 minutes on their hands. I definitely think it's worth a watch, if you haven't seen it already. I do have to say though, before you watch it, that Hulu managed to piss me off with this simply because they've deemed the show "for mature audiences," for no other apparent reason than the talk of the homos....

Open Letter To Crazy Christians
I'm over it. Completely and totally over it. There was a time when I was sympathetic to the cause of family values and freedom from over-zealous legislators. But that time has passed, washed away faster than it came. And let me tell you why:
You are bat shit insane. Completely. Not all of you, but that rabid Conservative Machine that governs you actions and thoughts, you know, the one that acts like the Catholic Church of old with your various Cardinals and Popes (Dobson, All the twits on 700 Club, etc.). Yep, those ones. You mean to tell me that it is within your jurisdiction to hate? At all? Ever? Really? I'm probably not the first person to point this out, and sure I won't be the last, but your message of intolerance and bigotry is... well, kinda ridiculous and hypocritical.
I know, I've kinda been one to focus on details instead of the bigger picture many times. I'm guilty of that too. But, in reality, the bigger picture of love and peaceful coexistence is pretty much exactly the point you're missing. Love for all and everyone. But there's that little quote there in this book you hold tight to all the time, isn't there? A few of them? Cool, cool, I get it, but there's plenty more, in that same book, that explain why just about everything you do is ass-backwards.
I for one am tired of your bigotry and fevered hatred. I'm over it. You really need to stop hating and fighting, because, let's be honest, the only reason you fight gay rights is because it's a pissing match for you. Here in the states, the minority are protected from the tyranny of the majority by things like a court system. What's really ironic about that is that idea was originally instated to protect the churches from the tyranny of those of us who think you are bat shit insane and would prefer to never see your organizations around again. How quickly the tables turn though. Once you taste power, you go for the fucking throat as if you have a "moral majority" and can affect change.
Well, too fucking bad. Us Gays are going to keep fighting, and we're going to win. Because we're absolutely in the right, and you are obviously insane. So, for your own sake, I'd back the fuck off the gay rights and marriage issues, because in the end you'll lose, not just the fight but money and supporters. As people see you for what you really are, bigoted ass hats hiding behind a pretense of religious vigor, they'll flock. They already are, but it's going to get worse. I'm not hating, I am judging, but in the end, I'm just Gaying...
