As I prepare for my vacation to the loverly Riviera Maya area of Mexico, I've been doing some research into things to do and see, as well as taking a peek at whatever local gay flavor there might be in the area. Knowing that parts of Mexico aren't particularly gay friendly, and yet other parts are very gay welcoming (Mexico City and Purto Vallarta come to mind), I've been curious to find out how my boyfriend and I will fair on our excursion.We've really only selected a few things that we feel we must do while we're there. We definitely want to do Xel-ha, Chichen Itza and possibly Tulum. Other than that, we're pretty open to just bein lazy on the beach or lounging in the pool at our resort. Considering we'll be there in mid-August, I'm not particularly expecting the weather to be too condusive to long walks during the day. However, I am curious about the night life.
Through various forums and web searches, I've come to find out there are a few "gay spots" in Playa del Carmen that I'll want to check out. There is a gay bar in the area, and I hear rumor of a few other spots that are gay-owned and operated, but aside from that I haven't found much else. In that respect, I'm still open to ideas. If you've been to the area or know of some must-do things (gay or otherwise), let me know!

I remember reading that post, I'll have to check it out again. For some reason, I had it stuck in my mind that you were in Puerto Vallarta the whole time... gotta love the way the mind chooses to remember things ;)
