power of putting yourself and your message on the line is stronger
than most of us believe. But sometimes... Sometimes, you just fail
when you try.
This morning when I left our new place I was greeted with a small
cadre of protesters at the corner across the street. They held angry
sounding signs about the rising death toll in Iraq, including the many
civilians that have been needlessly slain. They chanted about
bringing the troops home now! They looked like the local insane
asylum had a recent break out.
I'm all for a good protest, and I'm even more for a solid war
protest. I'm also all for solid presentation. I'm just not sure that
three people, one of which was obviously afflicted by some mental
disorder and the other two who were inexplicably wearing bicycle
helmets with no bikes to be seen, holding signs obviously made 10
before the protest started really puts the beat anti-war foot
forward. That's al I'm saying.
Now, if they had a few hulky guys, or maybe even a few normal people
out there, I would have considered joining them. But as it is, they
are being harrassed by the local bums... The bums are even harrassing
the protesters. So, here I am typing away on the bus ok the way to
work.
